How to make up the web pages

Your Photo

Using the hand held digital camera, get someone to take your picture (head and shoulders - please smile). Look at it in the viewfinder and make sure you are happy with it. It will probably look best on a neutral background.

Transfer the picture to a working directory on the computer (Donald Bell will show you how - or do it for you)

Crop out the parts of the picture you do not want and make it exactly 200 pixels wide - the height does not matter.

Save it as a *.gif file, under a unique file name - your first initial, then your surname up to a maximum of seven additional letters. So "Donald Bell" becomes "dbell.gif" and "Paul Goldfinch" becomes "pgoldfin.gif".

Making up the Web Page

Now make up your web page. Start with "blank.htm" and immediately save it as "*.htm" where "*" is the file name you used for your "*.gif" file. Fill in your full name between the appropriate comment lines, your company and your interests. Then insert the correct name for your "*.gif" file.

Save the finished file.

Linking to the Index Page

Next, open the file "index.htm" and insert a new line in the list of people with a hyperlink to the file you have just created.

Or you can get someone to do it all for you!
